Welcome to our site and our blog. We're glad you're here!

Silktail logo and Waxwing bird head, established 2023

About us: Our names are Kyle and Ally, and we are the humans behind the majestic Cedar Waxwing that has become our brand. Our avian inspiration is drawn from the Waxwing's wax-tipped feathers, and its year-round presence in every state we've ever lived in. We're both environmentalists with an ardent, enduring love for the natural world (and a soft spot for birds), and we wanted our logo, our mascot, our brand, and our business practices to reflect that. Our commitment to sustainability isn't just in our branding, it runs deep, and it is our core mission to prioritize sustainability, ethical sourcing, and resource preservation at every turn. We use all-natural plant-based waxes sourced from ethical companies growing crops right here in the USA, we use renewable energy to power our shop and studio, we purchase materials from companies that have expressed similar commitments to our own, and we aim to use all repurposed, reused, or recycled materials when we pack and ship our candles. Importantly, we promise to continuously reassess our practices to make sure that we're acting as sustainably and responsibly as we can.

In addition to our commitment to being good environmental stewards, we pledge to put our money where our beaks are and donate a portion of our profit to The Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the American Bird Conservancy. When you buy a Silktail product, you're helping The Cornell Lab and the ABC protect wild birds, enrich our knowledge and understanding of the natural world, and conserve wild habitats throughout the Americas.
